I really hate it when someone tells me what I want to hear without actually meaning it. I've been a member of the botanical gardens for a year and every time they do volunteer orientation it seems to be in the middle of the week in the morning. So in January I finally emailed them and suggested they do one on the weekend so that people who work could attend. Two days later I receive a reply and assurances that they plan to hold one on the weekend in February. This weekend is the last weekend in February and still no volunteer orientation. I'm debating emailing them back.

Feb. 12th, 2007 09:54 am Quote from Jared

Because conversations with Jared are always interesting.

"I must now brave the long, dark of Tech Hall. Be on your guard. There are older and fouler
things than engineers in the deep places of the earth. It's a 3 day journey to the other
side. Let us hope our presence here my go unnoticed."

Mar. 16th, 2006 09:46 am Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer Day 1

So after reading on Sarah's blog about Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer I decided I would also try it. The problem was finding it, it appears to be very popular. The problem was solved when Sarah found and bought some for me. So last night I try it. After putting it on I go to bed. This morning I wake up and feel slightly itchy. Then I take a shower and the itchy sensation gets worse. I get out of the shower to realize I'm covered in small red bumps. On the positive side they seem to have already faded to pink. In the negative side I itch! I think Sarah will now have two bottles of the lotion.

I couldn't help but think two things that when the fire alarm went off at sometime after 5:30 and I grabbed my work laptop and stood outside waiting for them to either give the all clear or tell us there was a fire and to go home. One was that I have really screwed up priorities. There was the possibility that there was a fire and I was more worried about saving my work computer than getting out of the building. The other is that my life is officially pitiful because I stayed and went back to work on a Friday evening at 6PM.

And here is a question for anyone who cares to answer. Do I give the people the opinion that I would be insulted by someone offering to let me sit in their nice warm car instead of freezing outside? Because yes I protected my work computer but forgot my car keys. Either way the people who offered to let me sit in their nice warm vehicle seemed concerned that I would be offended by the offer. The actually said something along the lines of "we didn't want to insult your ability to tough it out."

Feb. 12th, 2006 01:28 pm It is cold

Normally while I hate giving up my weekend to work there are things I enjoy about being here on the weekend. Its quite and less stressful without anyone stopping by to check on my progress, however, today I'm not sure the heater is working. Had I expected this I would have dressed warmer and brought gloves. As it is I'm sitting here in my heavy coat, a thick sweater, and jeans freezing.

Today I learned a valuable lesson. It is not the ice you can see that gets you its the ice you don't see.

Nov. 23rd, 2005 08:27 am Never posted one of these before but...

You Are A: Duckling!

DucklingThe cutest of the cute, these baby ducks are often spotted in the spring following closely behind their mother. As a duckling you will grow up quickly, becoming one of the adult ducks seen commonly in ponds and streams. Playful and timid, charming and vulnerable, ducklings are nature's very definition of innocence.

You were almost a: Frog or a Pony
You are least like a: Squirrel or a ChipmunkWhat Cute Animal Are You?

Nov. 15th, 2005 10:28 am Break-in

Yesterday I got a voice mail from my apartment's office telling me to call them that it was an emergency. Apparently someone had kicked in my front door. The good news is that Kira is okay. Apparently she hid until I got home. The maintenance man looked for her at my request and couldn't find her but she heard my voice and came running. Her being okay really is the important thing. My TV, VCR/DVD player, and both my new laptop and the old one I was going to fix for Dad are gone but she and I are okay and that's what matters. Also, I will be moving into a new apartment this weekend. It will be upstairs. Not that I think it would have stopped them but it will make me feel better. I'm staying with Mom for the next couple of days.

Oct. 3rd, 2005 10:47 am This weekend

I think this is one of the longest weekends I've had in a while and one of the busiest. I went home largely because I wanted to go to the fair. I got up at 4:00 Saturday morning and drove home. Dad took the weekend off so Saturday he and I went to the fair. Then later that night he took me to see Serenity. Then Sunday Mom, Dad and I went to the zoo. Then I had to do homework. I got up at 4 this morning and drove back to Huntsville.

Sep. 27th, 2005 09:21 am I hate football season.

Normally I can talk to my coworkers and have interesting conversations, however since football season has begun it seems like every conversation at some point turns to football. At this point I have the urge to either go to sleep or scream every time football comes up and while I don't pay that much attention I have the feeling its still fairly early in the season.

I finally decided that taking three classes and working at an Engineering job full time was dumb. So I'm now only taking Foundations of Math and Numerical Methods and you wouldn't believe how much stress disappeared with that decision.

Jun. 30th, 2005 02:28 pm Shipping and Handling

I love it when the shipping and handling fees are more than the cost of the item you are ordering. Guess thats what happens when you order out of print paperback books.

Jun. 30th, 2005 12:37 pm New Car

I get a new car Saturday! Its a Mazda 626 not sure what year it is but it has well under 100,000 miles and is in very good condition. It will be by far the nicest car I have ever owned. I'm going to miss my V6 but the better gas milage and smaller car will make it worth while. And not having to worry about weird rattling sounds. :)

Jun. 6th, 2005 08:23 am My Saturday morning

So this Saturday one of my friends decided that 3:00 AM was a wonderful time to stop by. My friend had been out drinking, and then decided they needed to borrow my bathroom. Apparently they couldn't stop at a public restroom. And the quote of the night was "Did I wake you up?", all I could think was no I routinely stay up by myself on a Friday night to 3:00AM when I got up at 5:00 in the morning. Staying up 22 hours makes wonderful sense. What I said was yes. Oh and they only reason I let my friend in is they used Kira's name and that was when I realized it was someone I knew because as a rule I don't open my door at 3:00 in the morning.

Why am I nervous about taking one class? I've worked 40 hours and taken multiple classes and its only a 300 level class. I've taken graduate level classes and done fine. Oh and guess what priorities just changed at work again....
